Unseen Underground in association with Saarang 2011 presented the Pain Of Salvation Pre Show Night last Friday in Geoffrey’s pub.  The evening featured 4 talented bands from different cities. The presence of the Swedish progressive rock band Pain Of Salvation added extra power to the evening.  Featuring bands include winner of Chennai Live band hunt –“Wolf’s Lair”, winner of IIT-M Saarang2011 – “Yonsample” from Kolkata , Last year’s Saarang winner “Escher’s Knot” from Chennai and and “Infidels Of Sanity” from Pune.
The show was kick started by Pune based progressive rock band Infidels Of Sanity. Even though this was their 1st performance in Chennai the crowd supported them and liked their music.  They handed over the stage to Wolf’s Lair. They just started playing and whole crowd started screaming as the Pain Of Salvation guys just  entered the venue. And that added more energy to Wolf’s Lair performance when Daniel & Johan of Pain Of Salvation appreciated their music.
The Next band on stage was none other than Escher’s Knot. This was their 1st show of the year 2011 and many people were eagerly waiting for it. Their performance was incredible. The last band of the evening was “Yonsample” from Kolkata.  Just few hours before this performance they were announced as the winner of Saarang 2011 band competition Decibels. One of the brilliant metal acts of our country.
It was a complete different experience, a band like Pain Of Salvation, who is the ideal and influence of many musicians and bands across the world was a part of this show who witnessed some of the best Indian metal acts and they were seemed capturing videos in their mobile phone of the performing bands. During an interview the Pain Of Salvation guys admitted attending the pre show night was an amazing experience for them and they like the Indian bands.
Looking forward for more similar moments where Indian bands get exposed in front of some big international bands.
