After the success of 1st phase of Unseen Underground Pub Fest in different cities across the country with the support of thousands of rock fans ,Unseen Underground has launched their new concept Saturday Night Live in Chennai at Geoffery’s pub last Saturday in association with HMI Guitars, Explocity, Chennai Live & SS Music, which will be slowly moved to different cities soon with a greater interest to create a platform which will bring to light the upcoming talent of Indian Rock Fraternity.
The show featured 4 bands of different genres with talented individuals in each band. Chennai based Alternative /Funk band Tom Violence kick started the show with great energy. These young guys created an ambiance suitable for the kind of music they were playing, which gathered the crowd near the stage. Their music was quite unique to the crowd that gathered for the night and everyone enjoyed and appreciated their own compositions. It is very pleasant to see upcoming bands playing their own compositions and with support from hundreds of audience. They made the crowd go over excited with their song “Monkey With The Loaded Gun”, which is the band’s personal favorite out of their own compositions. Than they handed over the stage to a guest band from Bangalore, Scratch Card Winners. In a self explanatory statement the band expressed that the name of the band explains their genre so well and they entertained the punk rock lovers in the city with few of their own compositions like Apple In The Pie, Time Pass Suicide and Free Play. They wind up their performance with a Neil Young’s cover “Rocking In The Free World”. The next band on the stage was none other than Escher’s Knot. Most of the people among the crowd seemed to know them as well as their own compositions and most of them were singing along with the band. The entire crowd came near the stage to moshpit as they started with their own composition “Up For Nothing” followed by their new original song, “Mayan Calendar”, “This Page Has Been Left Intentionally Blank”, “Hyperspace” and “Anonymous Origins”. They concluded their performance with “Break The Cypher” from their 1st EP Tessellations. The last band of the evening was CRYPTED , a Chennai based progressive Death metal band .Over last one year they have earned a lot of fans in the city , most of them were there in the venue to witness the bands talents and they were fascinated by their excellent performance. The band displayed their powerful energy on stage through “Fleah Eater”, “Equilibrium”, “Held by chains”., song from their recently released EP “Equilibrium”. The audience started head banging along with the guitar riffs and vocals which raised a terrific atmosphere. The show came to an end with the “Black Label”, a Lamb Of God cover by Blind Image, Escher’s Knot & Crypted musicians together on stage.
